Emsisoft Anti-Malware awarded VB100 certification in October 2018 test

Virus Bulletin is an organization that provides users with independent insight into the capabilities of endpoint security products. The group recently released the results of its latest VB100 certification tests, and we’re happy to announce that Emsisoft Anti-Malware once again aced the test and was consequently awarded VB100 certification.

What’s involved with the VB100 test?

The VB100 award is a certification given to security products that are able to provide a strong baseline of protection.

The October 2018 tests were performed on physical computers or virtual machines with specifications typical of those you would find in an office. Each test was performed on two different systems, one running Windows 7 and the other running Windows 10. Each security product was tested using malicious samples gathered from:

The tests also involved analyzing approximately 100,000 non-malicious files taken from a set of 400,000 clean files harvested from popular software downloads.

To be awarded VB100 certification, a product had to detect at least 99.95 percent of malware samples and generate no more than 0.01 percent false positives.

We’re pleased to report that Emsisoft Anti-Malware passed with flying colors, detecting 100 percent of the 1,580 samples used in the Certification test and generating 0 false positives. Emsisoft Anti-Malware also detected 99.64 percent of samples used in the Diversity test, although this was not part of the certification criteria.

We’re proud to see our software performing well in test conditions, and we’ll continue working to provide our customers with the best malware protection on the planet.
